The CAP Awards are back – get your entries in!

Submissions for The CAP Awards for Irish Indie Authors 2023 close on June 1st.

The Carousel Aware Prize for Independently Published Authors (The CAP for Indies) provides a platform that highlights the cream of Irish Independently-Published authors, bringing them to the attention of book shops, distributors, and the media in Ireland and abroad, with all money raised going to the charity Aware*.

This November, the awards will return to Dublin after a challenging few years throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, for a night of recognition and celebration.

The brainchild of independently-published author and writing workshop facilitator Carolann Copland, the awards were launched to great success in 2016 but were put on hold for a number of reasons, for the past few years.

“We are thrilled to be back up and running – and very happy to see that writers everywhere feel the same! The calibre of submissions is fantastic and the excitement for the ceremony in November is at an all-time high. We cannot wait for it!” said Carolann.

Independent publishing is changing the face of publishing worldwide and The CAP Awards has helped to give Ireland its place on that world map, providing recognition for the best that Ireland has to offer from Indie authors.

“It’s so important that this important event is flourishing. We love to see all of the talented Irish indie authors out there get the recognition they so richly deserve and encourage everyone to send their submissions in ahead of the deadline of June 1st deadline!” said Emer Cleary, Founder of Emu Ink Publishing.

The written word, like every art, needs competition to keep it moving forward. Readers now have a bigger choice and independently published books are competing well alongside traditionally published books.

The CAP Awards are committed to acknowledging and promoting excellence in Irish independent book publishing, and are also a reader’s guarantee of quality; offering them fresh, new voices from independent authors combined with professional, high-level standards of publishing.

Award Categories: Fiction; Non-Fiction; Young Adult; Children; Best Book Cover; Anthologies (Prose OR poetry, OR a mixture of prose and poetry. One author OR a compilation of authors)

Check out the website www.capawards.ie for full details and to get your entries in – submission opportunity finishes at midnight on Thursday, June 1st.
